"Necessary documents and other information were routinely sent during the evening, well outside of business hours, often with requests to have documents submitted the following day. Certain emails were templates that were not altered from their original drafts and when this was brought to Scott's intention, his immediate reaction wasn't to understand our issues or our frustrations with these aspects of this process, but instead got immediately defensive and criticized us for not providing information in time, saying that his staff was working well beyond overtime (something that is none of my concern). When Scott did finally go back and look at the original email that was sent to us, he relented and apologized once he realized he was wrong, but to instantly get defensive was not a good look and, if anything, made an already stressful situation worse. To be clear, I'm not even a believer in "the customer is always right," but if your first reaction to getting one bit of criticism is to instantly get defensive, you should probably reexamine how you interact with customers because it leaves me wondering if there are others that have had such issues."
