"Ryan and the team at First Home Mortgage helped make my family's dream of home ownership a reality. Initially, I attended a First Time Homebuyers seminar run by Ryan in partnership with a local realtor. The seminar was informative and Ryan did a great job detailing the process of what is required when purchasing a home. He shared information about different programs for first-time buyers that renewed my confidence in my family's ability to own our own home after renting for over a decade. After the seminar, I followed up with the team at First Home. I received excellent advice about what my husband and I needed to do to improve our credit scores and move forward with the homebuying process. We followed the advice exactly and within two months, we successfully qualified for financing. Although it took several additional months to find our dream home, the team at First Home was supportive and professional throughout the process. I received immediate responses to any emailed questions or concerns. Someone was always available to assist, even during the holiday season. We most appreciated the ease of completing our application and purchase process entirely electronically using the secure server and mail system. We never felt our personal or financial information would be compromised. Deadlines were always stated, restated, and very clear. Ms. Dixon did a phenomenal job processing our application and ensuring we were prepared for submission to underwriting. Within days, we received final loan approval. We closed on our new home within 35 days of our contract acceptance. I also want to mention that there were no surprises - what was stated in our pre-closing documents matched what was expected at closing. When I first met Ryan at the Homebuyer Seminar, he spoke about First Home's reputation and ability to close loans quickly with confidence. At the time, I thought he was being a bit bragadocious, but now I see that he was just stating facts. It is essential that you trust your lender and there was never a moment when we felt we could not do so. My husband and I cannot thank First Home enough for helping us achieve our goal and fulfill our dream! Thank you! "

"Ryan was very receptive and helpful and quick to respond. The rest of my experience was not so great. The processor was difficult and communication was challenging. I eventually gave up dealing with her and turned to Ryan as often as possible. Ryan worked hard to make my loan happen. But with processing, requests to file for settlement were ignored, although it was strongly implied that it had happened. Secure, important, emails were sent to my brother on multiple occasions until I got angry enough that the problem was fixed. It was a much more frustrating process than necessary. I understand this is always a difficult process and I cannot express enough my gratitude for the work Ryan did on my behalf, but the frustration with processing made me an incredibly unhappy. My review is mixed because my experience was so uneven."

When you question processes your realtor is told you don't understand the process. Not true. I've bought 2 houses prior and had less paperwork and explaining of debt with one of those purchases being in the last year and the other 10 years prior. If you want a well explained, open process this is not my first choice mortgage company. We haven't moved so far into the digital age that human connection isn't appreciated. "From my perspective, the instructions they provided were clear and they processed all of my submitted documents quickly and their calculations seemed accurate and thorough. Four stars instead of five, however, because of communications issues. They repeatedly did not keep my realtor in the loop, including providing me with documentation to sign that she had not approved or even seen, and that was actually hers to provide. They also created some chaos around closing by not checking with all parties before scheduling the closing date, and then not notifying all parties that the closing date they had originally scheduled had changed. I found out by accident when I called to confirm the date that it had moved, and my realtor had not been informed either. The other odd communication item is the automated emails that have Ryan's name on them, but are clearly not from a live person. They provided contradictory information to what the person handling my mortgage had told me, and were very confusing in terms of timing and topic, often not even applicable to my particular situation. That being said, the whole process went much more smoothly than I had expected, and they did a very good job lining up all the required documentation and appraisals and completing everything quickly and accurately."

"I had been an avid follower of Ryan since interacting with him in 2016/2017 and understanding what I needed to do with my credit to qualify. Fast forward to 2019/2020 and I built my credit and paid down my credit cards to purchase my first forever home. I was ecstatic that my realtor suggested him and his team because again I followed his blogs. Unfortunately, the excitement would be short lived because there were a lot of things miscommunicated to me and my partner by his staff assigned to us. I only had one interaction with Mr. Paquin after needing clarification about numbers given to me by his staff. Our entire process was very disorganized and there were moments of non-transparency during our initial phase that almost caused us not to be able to close on our home. I had to do a lot of getting the title company and the lender to talk via conference call. Overall, again I am happy I was able to purchase my first home but working with this team did take away from the ideal "first-home buying" experience as they assumed I knew lots of information outside of my home-buying classes."
