"Darren seems very nice ,however, when asked multiple times to lock our rate, I was told I should not and that he would be watching the rate. He did watch the rate go up more than 2 full percentage rates before locking. The information and advice that was given was very poor. It was managed poorly. It was not disclosed as to how much it would cost to lock at any given time. Credit was pulled when asked about waiting until a card was paid in full. I was told not to pay it off yet. This was also poor advice. I had to ask again and ended up paying additional money for the rate because of when he pulled the credit. The money was and had been sitting in the account to pay if off but was instructed not to. I always had to initiate the calls and was always dismissed as "I have been doing this for many years and I am watching" I should have listened to my own instincts which is sad as I was trusting and I should not have been. I should have gone with a different lender all together. Over the 2 year period that I will have to stay in the home per my contract, I will pay over 20 k difference in just the increased interest rate. There were always excuses and was always reassured it was the right thing to do. It was not. I would not recommend this lender to anyone. He was nice but dismissive and very poor advice was given. It was not disclosed that other lenders do may not sell the loan that the cost would be lower with other lenders for a 12 month lock. I have discovered that it would have cost me aprox 1500 to 2500 for a 12 month lock with a more than two different lenders. My neighbors were able to do so and the neighbors that did not lock but went with Main street all have much higher interest rates and are having to pay lock extension fees. I never did know why he did not recommend locking on the numerous times when I requested to lock. I was never given an amount. The lock had to be extended and then it was renewed without my permission as the market rate was lower. I was not given a float-down rate and that was not disclosed either. I also found out later that I could have locked before the contract was ratified. The contract took about 3 weeks to ratify which also cost me more money in interest rate increases. This was a very poor and frustrating experience from start to finish. "
