"Communication was very poor, and the loan officers were disorganized. Though in both the initial contact and in subsequent interactions, we described the condition of the property, the loan officer proceeded with a conventional home loan. However, the condition of the property indicated a renovation loan, and the loan officer should have known that. This resulted in having to redo the mortgage to be a renovation loan, which resulted in significant delays and might have cost us the property. These delays could have been easily avoided had the loan officers asked more questions up front about the property. Also, deadlines for signing paperwork often seemed to come out of the blue and be extremely short, so it felt like we were always in some state of emergency. Because the loan officers had to have been down this path before with previous clients, it seems like we could have been a little more prepared for what was coming down the pike. While we did eventually close on the loan, even at the closing there were errors in one name, which required that the full packet of documents be corrected and reprinted. This was despite numerous attempts to tell the loan officer that there was an error in early documents. We would not recommend Main Street Home loans and will not be repeat customers."
