About Brian Patrick McDermott

I was born and raised in Baltimore County, and learned the importance of hard work, honesty, and integrity through my tight-knit family upbringing. I earned that honor of eagle scout in high school, and went on to graduate from Towson University. In 1998, I became a mortgage loan officer/consultant, and have been helping clients ever since. I currently live in Baltimore County with my wife Catherine, two sons (Jake and Nicholas), and our dog Coleman. I absolutely love what I do. My 20+ years of experience serves to help clients navigate the confusing, sometimes overwhelming mortgage world. We'll explore different options, and will find a mortgage program that best fits their wants and needs. "Our prior lender was not very communicative to the point that even internally, he did not check with his underwriter to ensure our deal would go through and ultimately it did not- only two weeks prior to closing. It was ridiculous timing and ridiculous with the reasoning. They wanted to give us an investment loan (higher rate and higher down payment) even though we would physically be living there and despite our explanation as such. Brian was recommended by our realtor and not only did he understand the situation but he confirmed that things could move forward smoothly with his underwriter (up front)! Even though there's PMI due to putting down only 5% , the rate we got was so good that it's almost like it's being paid w/ the interest savings, plus, it'll automatically be removed when we hit the 22% equity mark. He was communicative throughout the process and he worked through it at a faster pace than most lenders (and I've dealt with several). And though we had to extend our contract by two weeks (solely due to the lousy timing with the prior lender), everything went smoothly. There is something to be said about dealing with a local lender. In fact, he even showed up at our closing- a pleasant surprise!"
